NEW "Subscribe" Policy for QUALITY.ORG Email Discussion Lists ------------------------------------------------------------- As a result of a rash of bogus subscriptions (ie. some prankster subscribing unwary persons to EVERY list on this system--over 55 of them!), the Majordomo list management software will NO LONGER automatically accept subscription requests. Instead, the requests will come to me and I will send the purported subscriber--at the email address that "they" seem to have tried to subscribe at, a note asking them to reconfirm their desire to subscribe. This affects ONLY the "subscribe" function. Any subscriber can continue to "unsubscribe" themselves from any QUALITY.ORG or CASTI.COM mailing list without system administrator interference. (This also ONLY affects the lists supported here at QUALITY.ORG and CASTI.COM, not the list I *moderate* but which is supported at the princeton.edu system.) Our apology for this new policy, but it is being engaged to better protect YOU from unwanted invasions of your account privacy, as well as to enable us to serve you better by not having to waste so much time going back to deal with all the complaints and deleting all the bogus subscriptions.
