| Software Quality: the Basic issues by Peter Wilkinson, former Head, DTI Software Quality Unit This first article appeared in SQM issue 24.Information Technology pervades all areas of society. IT increasingly impacts the public through its application to improve the efficiency, functionality or safety of everyday commodities like white goods and the motor car or of services like banking, the media and air transport. IT has become a significant factor in the operation of most markets and now itself represents a major and rapidly growing market of strategic importance. |

But by using a common-sense approach, a Milwaukee-based manufacturer of PSA adhesives and coated materials became ISO 9002 registered within two years of initiating the project. Success is attributed in part to management commitment, employee-wide participation and a step-by-step process that relied heavily on employee expertise and existing procedures. |
