Why Should You Be Interested In ISO 9000?
As a manager you know that the first step to improving a process is to first gain complete control over it, when you have control you have a base to work from. ISO 9000 achieves this control by documenting exactly what is supposed to happen. This has the added advantage of setting specific targets for employees to meet and therefore motivating them to achieve these specifications.

ISO 9000 at Work

Boeing Facility in St. Louis Earns Quality Certification ST. LOUIS, March 13, 1998 — The Boeing facilities here have become the single largest industrial site in the world to have its operations certified by independent evaluators as meeting the internationally recognized ISO 9000 commercial industrial quality standards. The company received ISO certification from National Quality Assurance of Acton, Mass., the independent registration company that conducted a week-long audit in December of the Boeing operations here. "This is a proud moment for our team," said Mike Sears, Boeing president of McDonnell Aircraft and Missile Systems. "ISO 9000 certification is a sign to our customers around the world that this team is serious about delivering quality products and services, and it demonstrates the commitment our workers have to quality and customer satisfaction." ISO Implementation

Guidance on interpretation and implementation

What is Non-Destructive Testing? Non-destructive testing is the branch of engineering concerned with all methods of detecting and evaluating flaws in materials. Flaws can affect the serviceability of the material or structure, so NDT is important in guaranteeing safe operation as well as in quality control and assessing plant life. The flaws may be cracks or inclusions in welds and castings, or variations in structural properties which can lead to loss of strength or failure in service. Non-destructive testing is used for in-service inspection and for condition monitoring of operating plant. It is also used for measurement of components and spacings and for the measurement of physical properties such as hardness and internal stress.

Registering Your System

Quality Management investing in the future Quality is not a matter of chance, and to maintain high quality standards even less so. Companies which are concerned with their future achieve long-lasting success when they implement general and certified quality control systems. A quality management system is critical when it comes to the sale of a product to the customer, as many quality features go unnoticed at first glance. Certification ensures that the data the producer publishes on the label are true. By means of certification by a renowned and independent quality assurance organisation, the producer is seen as more reliable by the customer. The quality certificate underlines a renowned and appreciated brand name and has a similar value.

How The Registration Process Works 1. Select a Registrar: The selection of the Registrar is dependant upon two things. First, your geographic market. Because the Registrars are accredited by national bodies, you will need to verify that the chosen registrar is accredited by each national body within your current or future market.
