What is AuditNet? ----------------- AuditNet is a conceptual model developed by Jim Kaplan, Audit Manager for Fairfax County, Virginia. The original concept was for a central electronic resource for the audit community that would provide a link for auditors worldwide. The initial concept has evolved into a network of resources available for auditors. The AuditNet concept now has the auditor as the hub of a wheel. The spokes of that wheel represent resources available for professional auditors. Some of those spokes are connected by pointers via the Internet while some spokes are islands unto themselves. A listing of those electronic resources is updated and distributed montly via the Internet and CompuServe. As the technological barriers to an open communication system disintegrate, those isolated resources will eventually be electronically linked. When that situation occurs the AuditNet conceptual model will have evolved into a true network of audit professionals electronically linked together.
