With economic borders becoming less defined how will U.S. companies compete in coming years? The competitive world-wide discriminator is quality and the standardization of quality management practices. The International Organization for Standardization, representing more than 92 countries, has published a series of quality assurance standards - ISO 9000 Series. The intent of these standards is to provide a common world-wide set of quality system guidelines, requirements and measurable evaluation criteria. Companies intending to supply software-based products internationally will need to adapt existing quality systems to the ISO 9000-3 Standard - Guideline for the Application of ISO 9001 to the Development, Supply and Maintenance of Software. In this seminar participants will: review the history, benefits and requirements for ISO certification; learn how ISO 9001 relates to ISO 9000-3 software standard; address registration requirements and the registration process; define the UK TickIt software scheme; explore the relationship of SEI Capability Maturity Model to ISO 9000 series. (8 hours) Loudoun Campus. Instructor: Donett Murphy. Price: $145.00 (plus $30.00 materials fee paid in class to instructor). Date: Sat., Aug. 12 OR Dec. 9, OR Mar. 30, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. MANAGING CHANGE AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION Change is the only constant in life. Yet, as we resist change, our relationship to it becomes one of stress. On a larger than personal level, organizations which seek out and welcome change tend to excel in the increasingly competitive business environment. In this program, information covers: the role of change in today's organizations; recognizing resistance to change within the self and others; model strategies to encourage acceptance of change; the difference between symptoms and causes of conflict; techniques to develop understanding of different points of view; techniques to gain participation in solution creation. (8 hours) Loudoun Campus. Instructor: Leslie O'Bryant Price: $115.00 (plus $30.00 materials fee paid in class). Dates: Sat., July 15 OR Sept. 23 OR Feb. 10, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. All classes are held at the NOVA Loudoun Campus, 1000 Harry Byrd Highway (Route 7), Sterling, Virginia.
