Information Services State of Washington glent@dis.wa.gov I am a career bureaucrat (20 years in). Our agency does computers and telephony for government agencies around the state. We bring in a lot of consultants and also serve as consultants to our customers. We have a bill in the legislature to go non-profit. If this goes through I suspect we are going to do a lot more marketing and consulting and I want to discuss various slants on the consulting process. Besides, without the merit system I might get fired and I have no idea if I could make it on my own, so the messages may yield some personal benefit. ============================================================================== Date: Sat, 18 Mar 95 17:04 GMT From: Robert Tusler Subject: Introduction I am still at the development phase of a consultancy having taken early retirement from IBM and had difficulty in deciding what to do. I am developing some products in the field of Project Risk Management - not something which gets a lot of attention on the Internet. The idea is to work with others here in the UK and later maybe overseas to do Project Risk Assessments and to develop a Risk Data Base to manage risks within the project. Given a degree of success in this the client should have the benefit of improving his chances of completing the project on time, within budget, and to meet the users' requirements. Particular areas of interest at the moment are data bases, expert systems, training programmes, and all aspects of marketing and contracting.
