Subject: The ASQC-MQD Email Discussion List 		


The ASQC-MQD list is sponsored by the ASQC Measurement Quality Division
(17).   
 
As a result of member feedback from the survey published in our newsletter,
the Division Council agreed to sponsor this list.  A large number of survey
respondents indicated a need to network with other metrologists and users
of measurement techniques to be able to keep up with current developments
and to share ideas and experiences.  We welcome you to use this list for
those purposes.  It is not necessary to be a member of ASQC or MQD to
subscribe or contribute. 
 
In addition, the Division will use this list to publicize meetings and
courses, solicit  feedback, and respond to member concerns and inquiries. 
Eventually, we may try to publish an electronic version of our quarterly
newsletter, The Standard. 
 
Several members of the Division Council are subscribers to this list.  This
means that any requests you have for information or help with ASQC or MQD
business may be posted here.  One or more of us will respond. 
 
Even though Division business may be transacted here, the basic purpose is
for you, the subscribers, to discuss anything you wish.   Please enjoy
yourself, and let us know if there is any way in which we may make your use
of this facility more pleasant. 
 
This list is unmoderated.  Everything you 'post' to the list is
distributed without being edited or even read beforehand.  We therefore
request that a few rules of 'netiquette' be followed in order to make the
list useful and pleasant for everyone.  These rules are listed on-line, in
the directory locations below, in a file called ASQC-MQD.faq.txt, which
also describes how to subscribe, etc.  Please read that file before trying
to send mail to the list.  The file you are now reading is called
ASQC-MQD.readme.txt and can also be found online, in
