ISO14000@quality.org -------------------- This list is designed for the discussion of the ISO 14000 certification guidelines for Environmental and related industries. This list is currently unmoderated, though it may later be converted to a moderated list if the traffic volume should justify it, or if you can't stay on the topic. The List Content Administrator is Gene Tatsch, who can be reached directly at: CET%LOUIE@RCC.RTI.ORG or cet@rti.org. He is empowered to keep the list focused on its content and focal area, and try to keep the discussions from wandering too far off-topic. This list also has a digest version, which you can subscribe to separately. This will permit you to receive all the postings of the list, but in 25K "chunks" rather than one at a time. This is particularly useful to those of you who want to review and respond offline, or who may simply not need to get every message immediately. Note that you can subscribe to either list or to both lists. It's your option. To subscribe to the ISO14000 list (the "one-message-at-a-time" list): ------------------------------------------------------------- Address an email message ONLY to our automated server: majordomo@quality.org with the following text ONLY in the BODY of the message: subscribe iso14000 To subscribe to the Digest version ---------------------------------- Address a message ONLY to: majordomo@quality.org with ONLY the following in the BODY of your message: subscribe iso14000-digest To Post to Everyone on the List ------------------------------- Address your message ONLY to: iso14000@quality.org (NOTE: Do *NOT* send your subscription or deletion requests to the List's Posting Address. The automated server is programmed to handle ALL subscription and deletion requests for all lists supported here, so all such messages need to go ONLY there. Posting such messages to the List only annoys the other subscribers and may, justifiably, result in your being "flamed" by them for your error.) -------- The QUALITY.ORG Domain Administrator is Bill Casti. He can be reached at: help@quality.org . Do NOT send your subscription or deletion requests to him UNLESS you have already tried the automated server and received an error message from it. Then, forward the entire error message to Bill and he will try to help you. -------- Here's some 'Netiquette and posting guidelines for this list. Please observe them (especially the one about including your email address at the END of your message, so others can reach you in case the headers get cut off).... *** PLEASE SAVE THIS FILE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE *** LIST POSTING GUIDELINES "NETIQUETTE" Upon successfully subscribing to the list, the automated server at Majordomo will send you an informational file. PLEASE SAVE THAT FILE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE! It contains information telling you how to leave the list(s), should you need to do so in the future. Your fellow subscribers are not going to be any happier receiving your "unsubscribe me" messages in their discussion list then than they would be now. Please follow the "self-deletion" instrucitons, too, and save everyone some aggravation. * "How come there's so high a noise-to-substance ratio sometimes?" Here's some 'Netiquette to follow in your postings and responses to the messages of others: 1. ALWAYS include your email address in the BODY of your message, preferably at the end of your comments, just in case. Different kinds of mailers work differently (obvious, huh?), and some have a disagreeable tendency to cut off all the headers from time to time. If you haven't "signed" your message, folks may not be able to contact you for private followup or even to inquire about hiring you or your ISO 14000 band of consultants. 2. When responding to a post, please quote enough of the message you're responding to to give everyone the context. Not everyone may have been here since the beginning of the thread, so give them some idea of what the heck you're responding to. If they don't know what you're talking about, it's just gibberish to them, and it makes you look like an inconsiderate boob. But, be careful with l-o-n-g messages and quote *only* the portions relevant to your response. None of us need to receive yet another full copy of the original post! 3. If your only reason for posting is to respond to a offer of free...anything or someone's offer of assistance, please send your response DIRECTLY to the poster who made the original offer. Don't clutter up the list with dozens of "me too" messages. (They will have "signed" their message with their personal email address.) 4. If you want to followup with a poster, please do so in PRIVATE email to that poster. Personal chit-chat is discouraged so as not to distract from our ISO-14000 focus. 5. Remember that you are welcome to discuss ISSUES related to ISO 14000 or other ISO 14000-related topics. You are NOT welcome to speculate on the origins, personal habits or intelligence of the person(s) posting the opinion(s) you disagree with. Any such personal derogatory remarks found in postings to moderated lists may, at the discretion of the List Content Administrator, result in your subscription being deleted and, possibly, your ability to subscribe to *any* list at QUALITY.ORG curtailed. Any discovered or complained about in unmoderated lists may subject the list to "instant moderation". 6. ALWAYS be sure to send your post to the CORRECT address: - The ONLY correct posting address for the ISO14000 list is: iso14000@quality.org * "How do I access the Quality Resources Online at QUALITY.ORG?" 7.
