WHO The Bulletin Board Service (BBS) is offered free of charge by Qualified Specialists, Inc., a Houston- based quality management/consulting and training firm. QSI specializes in international standardization with the focus on the oil and gas industry. WHEN The free BBS can be accessed after October 1, 1995 at 713-444-7717. It will feature the most up-to-date international standards developed by ISO TC67. Six standards from Work Group 2, Certification Principles for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry will be immediately available. WHAT ISO TC (Technical Committee) 67 is responsible for the development of standards for materials, services and equipment used in drilling production, refining and transport by pipeline of petroleum and natural gas. There are 7 subcommittees and an estimated 35 working groups responsible for the development of approximately 100 industry standards. Some of these standards are new while others are an integration of domestic and international standard. WHY-$$$$ Billions of dollars of losses every year in the Oil and Gas Industry due to failures has spurred enough industry interest to work on some real solutions.
