ISO 45001 Update

ISO 45001 has been more than four years in the making, and its publication has been eagerly anticipated.

It is the first international management systems standard which gives organisations a framework on which to define, demonstrate, and develop excellence in the management of occupational health and safety. It is designed to help organisations build safe working environments, reducing workplace injuries and illness.

The publication of ISO 45001 completes the “suite” of standards addressing health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ). A common framework, common definitions, and common text will help organisations build effective and efficient management systems which define management intent and see it put into action; which provide assurance to customers, suppliers and regulators; and which cut out waste and repetition and drive improvement.

This report provides a clause by clause analysis of ISO 45001:2018, describing the impact it will have on OH&S management systems and audit professionals. With a forward from ISO/PC 283 Chair David Smith, this report will provide CQI members and IRCA auditors with the guidance they need to prepare for the new standard.
