Branch event: the future of policing in the West Midlands

CQI Leicester and Coventry host an exciting talk on the new 2020 strategy at West Midlands Police.

On 11 January the Leicester and Coventry branch welcomed inspector Matthew Tite, who gave an exciting talk on the future of policing in the West Midlands.

The West Midlands Police 2020 strategy is changing the face of policing in the region, from how the police interact with the public to how the they investigate and prevent re-offending. The strategy hopes to radically overhaul all aspects of policing with people and technology at its heart.

Tite spoke about the blueprint for the strategy, which was unveiled on 15 March 2015. He explained how the new approach has ensured West Midlands Police look at how the culture and values, leadership, technology, services, systems, and processes all need to function as West Midlands Police move forward.

Branch chair, Mark Eydman said: ‘We were delighted to welcome around 30 guests to the event including several who were attending a branch event for the first time. The presentation was interesting and promoted a great deal of interaction and questioning which is always great to see.

‘As part of the continuing development of the branch, feedback forms were used fully for the first time. The comments will help us learn to improve even further in the future. We now hope that attendees will not only return to future events but recommend that others join them.

‘We would like to thank Amandip Sandhu for introducing us to inspector Tite and Temple QMS for being such excellent hosts as always.’
