New framework approved for the governance of the CQI’s Special Interest Groups

Progress indicator

A framework outlining how the SIGs relate to, and are supported by, other groups and departments of the CQI is now in operation.

SIGs are volunteer run groups that are essential to the CQI and operate within the CQI’s governance and operational structure.

A SIG Chairs network was created to discuss issues across the SIGs and to encourage collaboration, and they were integral to developing the new governance structure.

The core objectives and purpose for any SIG is:

a) To provide insights to inform the development of CQI policy and activities;

b) To promote quality/the quality profession in their sphere of activity;

c) To support the professional development of SIG members;

d) To be a source of information for SIG members;

e) To promote CQI & IRCA membership to non-members.

Caroline Whitson, Professional Networks Manager at the CQI, said: “In 2020 we hope to continue to improve the support that is given to SIG committees to help them achieve their objectives. Now that we have improved governance in place, we aim to set up new SIGs that will represent a larger number of our members, as well as help us to achieve our new Strategy 2030.”
