CQI wins Ministry of Defence Award

Published: 16 Oct 2020

We are delighted to announce that the Quality Apprenticeship Trailblazer Group has won the 2020 MOD Inspiring Leadership Quality Award.

The MoD has recognised the Quality Apprenticeship Trailblazer Group's development of the new Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship standard, in collaboration with CQI.

The apprenticeship system provides a foundation for industry to attack this problem and I look forward to seeing it grow.

Vince Desmond, CEO of the CQI

The standard is aimed at both school leavers starting employment, or experienced workers such as, engineers or programme managers who want to become quality professionals. This training compared to a common standard comes with numerous societal benefits:

  • Increased quality of products and services
  • Increased efficiency of the process that products and services are delivered, which reduces the cost for private companies and public services
  • Reduced risk of harm by unsafe products
  • Reduced training costs
  • Increased skills for quality practitioners

“The development of base level quality management skills throughout industry is key to addressing the dearth of competent and committed quality professionals that many sectors are experiencing. The apprenticeship system provides a foundation for industry to attack this problem and I look forward to seeing it grow.” - Vince Desmond, CEO of the CQI
