CQI’s launches Quality in Construction course

The CQI’s Quality in Construction training course, which can help quality professionals to gain a Practitioner Certificate in Construction Quality Management, was successfully launched in February 2020.

To support quality professionals in the construction industry, the CQI’s Construction Special Interest Group (ConSig) Training Working Group (TWG) recently developed a two-day training course – Quality in Construction (PT210).

The course, developed in partnership with the CQI’s ConSIG TWG, introduces learners to practical tools and good practice approaches to managing quality in construction at all stages of the construction project lifecycle. It is also suitable for other personnel who need to have a better understanding of the application of quality in construction.

Abbassi Ltd delivered the classroom based CQI Certified training course on 27-28 February in London. It was attended by delegates from experienced to newly joined quality professionals.

Nina Abbassi, CQP FCQI, Owner and Director of Abbassi Ltd said: “There was full engagement and sharing of experience between delegates, with excellent feedback and results. Delegates found the focus on lifecycle quality and managing quality risks at every stage of a project lifecycle really beneficial. The work carried out by the CQI Construction industry Special Interest Group (ConSIG) in developing the Construction Lifecycle topic for the course supported this message.

“There was also positive feedback in relation to the message that organisational culture was as important as a management system in delivering results and sharing learning. The idea of placing quality on a par with safety within organisational culture was fully supported by all delegates.”

This course offers participants a pathway to gaining a Practitioner Certificate in Construction Quality Management, which is made up of the following courses totaling 19 days:

Karen McDonald, CQP MCQI, Quality Manager at Skanska and Chair of the CQI’s ConSIG TWG, said: “The Practitioner Certificate in Construction Quality Management was identified and developed to provide construction quality professionals with a professional pathway that can lead to Chartered Membership of the CQI. It will also provide confidence to the construction industry that they have the required knowledge and skills to fulfil their role.”
