CQI welcomes three new Fellows

Progress indicator

The CQI speaks to its latest members who have successfully achieved Fellowship status.

The CQI is delighted to announce that Marc Elmes, Lead Supplier Quality Engineer at Howden in Renfrew, Scotland, Rashad Issa, Quality Assurance Manager at the Baltic Exchange, London, and Tim Shuttleworth, Head of Quality HPC Marine at Balfour Beatty, Bristol, UK, are its latest members to secure the Fellowship grade.

The interviews took place at the CQI’s head office in London in December, where each candidate gave a presentation as part of their fellowship assessment.

To apply for the Fellowship grade, candidates must be a CQI member and have held the title of Chartered Member for a minimum of two years.

Applicants first create a portfolio outlining how they meet at least three of the five criterion described in the Fellowship Guidance. A second stage is a 10 to 15 minute presentation, to demonstrate how they meet the Fellow criteria and to answer questions from the panel.

Speaking of his journey to Fellow, Tim said: “I allowed myself a year to pull everything together and had the support of Balfour Beatty and other quality professionals during the process. Being able to demonstrate how you as an individual support and promote quality is an interesting journey once you start to look back and document it.”

He continued: “Achieving Fellow status is one of the proudest achievements in my professional career. The process of applying is well structured and the CQI were there at all times to support me.”

Sharing his journey and experience, Rashad said: “The full process, from providing the written evidence to being sat in a room with gurus in the industry, was very challenging and enlightening at the same time. Now that I have become a Fellow of the CQI, the future holds even more exciting ventures. Whether it is bringing my quality experience to boards, or to students and exciting them about the profession, it is a journey that I am proud to be part of.”

Marc commented: “Being recognised for my outstanding commitment, contribution to quality and the advancement of the profession is a real honour, having been involved in various volunteer positions over my 20 years at The CQI West of Scotland Branch, and more recently, the Scottish Region Steering Committee and Membership Council. Quality is a never-ending journey and I’m truly looking forward to being involved in it for the next 20 years.”
