Which grades of membership are available?
Affiliate, Practitioner, and Chartered Quality Professional. Take our grade quiz to find out whether you are eligible for Practitioner or Chartered Quality Professional grade. Alternatively join online at Affiliate grade now.
What are the requirements for entry at Practitioner grade?
Two years’ experience in a quality related role, plus at least 30 hours of training or education in a quality-related subject.
What types of training are accepted for entry at Practitioner (PCQI) grade?
To be accepted for entry at Practitioner grade, training or education must relate to at least one areas of the competence framework. For example, a CQI IRCA certified Auditor/Lead Auditor training course, or any in-house training that you may have completed with your employer would be acceptable. We cannot consider one-day courses towards the 30 hours of learning. Full details about Practitioner grade are on this page.
How can I pay for my membership?
The easiest method of payment is by credit or debit card. We will ask you for payment once you have applied. You can either phone you to collect payment over the phone, or you can choose to pay via our secure online website. Alternatively, you can send a bank transfer. Please allow an additional 5-10 days processing time if you choose to pay by bank transfer. You may also incur bank charges from your bank, please check with your bank before making a bank transfer.
Can I pay by direct debit?
By renewing your membership in the January following your join date, you will receive the additional option to pay your membership by direct debit for all future renewals. The CQI membership year runs from January to December and so your first renewal will be requested in time for the January after you join.
What happens if my application is not successful?
We will always offer the highest grade that you are eligible for, even if your application for a particular grade is not successful.
How long does assessment typically take?
For Practitioner grade, we aim to provide feedback and/or an offer letter within 10 working days. For Chartered Quality Professional applications, please allow three weeks.
I am not sure which grade to apply for. How do I find out which grade I may be eligible for?
Our handy Grades Quiz will ask a few questions about your experience and knowledge and will recommend the right entry-grade for you.
Can I join both the CQI and IRCA?
Together the CQI and IRCA represent the whole of the quality profession and we have a large number of dual-members. If you are considering applying for both CQI and IRCA we recommend that you apply for IRCA first, we can then offer fast-track entry to CQI membership at the same time, at Practitioner grade.
