The CQI’s governing body welcomes Nina Abbassi and Natalie Shoemark-Dyer

The CQI is excited to announce the appointment of Natalie Shoemark-Dyer, Head of Quality at Aspire Defence Services Limited, and Nina Abbassi, Owner and Director of Abbassi Ltd, to the Board of Trustees. Both are Fellows of the CQI.

Ian Mitchell, CQI Board Chair said: “I am delighted to welcome Nina and Natalie onto the CQI Board of Trustees as we celebrate the institute’s centenary in 2019; and consider the future of the CQI and the quality management profession. Diversity of thinking, experience and background is vital to the success of any organisation, and I am sure that Natalie and Nina will further extend that diversity of thinking to improve outcomes for our members and stakeholders. My thanks go to the CQI Membership Council’s Nominating Committee for the work they have done in successfully completing this recruitment process.”

As a Fellow of the CQI, Natalie Shoemark-Dyer works hard to champion the message of quality to attract and support young professionals in the field. She has been involved in several committees at the CQI, including roles as the Chair of the CQI’s Next Generation Network and Co-Chair of the CQI’s Thames Valley Branch. In just a decade of working in quality, Natalie has been involved in the biggest Ministry of Defence Private Finance Initiative within the UK. Its focus is on delivering facilities management services to the British Army. She also previously worked on a government project for a leading Telecoms company, which involved implementing a management system and embedding a culture of quality within the organisation.

Natalie commented: “I am really excited to be joining the Board of Trustees, it is a great honour. For me this brings an opportunity for personal development, but more importantly [it is] a way for me to continue to support the CQI in delivering [its] aims and objectives. There is much to look forward in the year ahead and I consider myself privileged to be a part of it.”

Nina Abbassi is a Fellow of the CQI and an IRCA Certificated Lead Auditor. As an expert in business improvement, she has worked in areas of quality, and environmental and social responsibility. Nina advises national and international organisations, such as the British Standards Institution (BSI), on drafting and updating their respective standards. In 1993, she founded business improvement organisation, Abbassi. The organisation specialises in the training, consultancy and auditing of quality management systems. Abbassi Ltd is an Approved Training Partner of the CQI and has worked for companies in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Nina said: “Membership of the CQI and IRCA has contributed to my professional development and success over the last 27 years. The membership of the Board of Trustees is an opportunity for me to give back, by supporting the Board and the executives with my extensive experience and skills, to take the CQI legacy forward, to champion the vision of the CQI, and to strengthen and secure its future for its stakeholders.”
